The Unit for Development in Intellectual Disabilities’ (UDID) mission is to enhance quality of life and quality of service provision for people with intellectual disabilities and their families and carers.

We do this via an integrated programme of learning disability research, education and practice.

Our aims

  • To develop and maintain a programme of research, education and practice development which is planned and delivered in collaboration with people with intellectual disabilities and their families and carers
  • To develop and maintain a programme of research, education and practice development which is planned and delivered in collaboration with service providers
  • To develop research capacity within the Learning Disabilities Division of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Education
  • To develop a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in intellectual disability research, education and practice development.
